  1. I back those votes!

    Jaromir Jagr.....

sad to see (well not see ) him in the Russian league

  2. Jagr has the better career stats, but Bure was flashier, speedier and a more valuable player than Jagr was if you compare the two in their prime.

Where do these answerers get their facts by saying that Bure had better line-mates than Jagr?  Jagr got to play Mario Lemieux's wing for years and was pretty much mentored by Mario.  You can see how Jagr's performance and impact deminished when he didn't have Lemieux to pad his numbers any more.  Jagr also had at one time or other, Murphy and Coffey on the blue-line(wow!), Recchi and Francis in their prime.  You can't say that Jagr padded Rechhi or Francis' numbers...more like the other way around.  Who couldn't make scoring plays with two of the best offensive defensemen of all time making perfect passes to you?

Bure in his prime, before his knees failed him was the fastest thing on skates, which is why he was known as the Russian Rocket.  He used to put up scoring stats that are un-heard of these days.

Bure was the Canuck's franchise and he gave Vancouver fans some memorable moments.  When Lemieux passed the baton to Jagr was the time that the Penguins began to struggle and when Jagr's contract became too much for his poor attitude and work ethic and he was traded to the Capitals.  To this day the Caps regret making the deal for Jagr and he never did much else in New York.  The heartless Jagr has packed up his hockey equipment and decided to play in an inferior league, I assume so he can be the best without having to work for it, as he did in the Lemieux years.

There is no question that if Bure had played for a team like the Red Wings or had line mates such as Lemieux or Sakic that his career would have been even better and if his knees hadn't given out.  If Jagr would have been drafted by the Canucks instead he probably would have left for Europe years ago already.

Jagr will not be missed.  I never liked him.  I think it's a no-brainer that Bure was the better player.

  3. bure was definitely the better player

  4. jagr.

bure played with great linemates.  the difference being jagr turned his linemates into stars, bure didnt.

  5. Jagr has been around for a long time. Even when Mario wasn't around, Jags was a premier scorer. Bure didn't have any help, this is true, but he didn't win any cups and true greatness is championships

  6. Longevity, size and strength go to Jagr.  Bure had some pretty good surrounding talent in Vancouver.
