  1. he's the wise old guy archetype. there always has to be an old wise guy!

...at least i think he was the old guy... idk though. it's been like a couple years since i read it.

  2. Brom was the old, wise, storyteller who had a dragon and fought. He taught Eragon all that he knew and mentored him. Eragon would be nothing without that old man!

  3. Brom is the tutor to Eragon much like Obi Wan is to Luke Skywalker(alot of people say Eragon copies off Star Wars so I'll use that to explain). He is actually a former Dragon rider (his dragon is dead) who killed the evil dragon rider, his former friend, Morzan(who is similar to Anakin) but poses as a storyteller to watch over Eragon as he grows up (because Eragon is Morzans lost son) when Eragon finds the egg Brom protects him from the Raz'ac and helps him go on the run, training him as they hunt down the Raz'ac who killed Eragons adoptive father. Brom is wounded when they catch up with the Raz'ac and later dies.

  4. In the book Eragon, Brom in the beginning was a storyteller of the village. As you read further on, you actually find out that he was a rider also and his dragon's name was also sapphira. He defeated Morzan (thus acquiring his sword which he gives to eragon) and also he was an ally to the varden by helping them steal the dragon eggs away from Galbatorix.

  5. Brom is like an uncle/teacher to Eragon after his real uncle dies.he stays with Eragon through most of the story
