  1. Queen Elizabeth II inherited the throne from her father, King George II.  I'm sure there are loads of websites that will list all the Kings and Queens of England. Just do a google search.

  2. it was george the 6th i think

  3. Royals have names like Duchess and Duke because they are sort of given a little area to rule over so they feel like they have something to do. So Prince Philip is Duke of Edinburgh, Camilla Parker-Bowles is Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Charles is Prince of Wales etc.

  4. George VI, her father was King before her.

Dutchess, Duke, ect... are titles, showing the person's place in society, fortune, and royal favour.

    God bless you.

  5. George VI.

  6. Queen Elizabeth II's father George VI was King Regnant, and her mother Elizabeth, was Queen Consort. The last Queen Regnant was Victoria.

King George inherited the title after his brother,Edward VIII abdicated to marry American divorcee(two-times divorced) Wallis Warfield Simpson.

Royals are given royal versions of peerage titles as gifts from the monarch for services rendered to the crown. It has become a tradition for the monarch's children to receive peerage titles as wedding gifts.

A long ways back, the peerage titles were honors given for work done to build up the crown's dominion, estates;since a lot of this involved war fare, the higher-titled peers had won a lot of battles, land and allegiance for the sovereign.Dukes used to hold more political powers back then. They were in charge of large areas of land called a Duchy.Today's dukes who have duchies are more like chief financial offocers, businessmen running a business concern(which duchies usually are).

    In order of precedence(power/importance)

    the titles are

    ROYALS

    King/Queen Regnant

Prince/Princess---the heir apparent/presumptive being higher than younger siblings

Eac royal may also bear a royal verion of a peerage title as well:duke, marquess, earl, viscount, baron and female counterparts.

    THE NON-ROYAL PEERAGE

    Duke/Duchess

    Marquess/Marchioness

    Earl/Countess

    Viscount/Viscountess

    Baron/Baroness

Peers may run for a seat in the Parliament's House of Lords. The royal peers may not.It used to be that a royal was given a peerage title so he could automatically enter Parliamentary service in The House of Lords. This perk was changed years ago.

  8. - When Elizabeth was born in 1926 her grandfather was King. Her dad, Albert, was 30 years old and her uncle Edward was 31. Edward was the oldest son and was to become King followed by his children. The problem was that Edward was not married.

    - When Elizabeth's grandfather died when she 9 years old her uncle Edward became King, but he still wasn't married. Before his coronation Edward told his advisors that he wanted to marry an American divorcee named Wallis Simpson. They told him that his people would never accept an American divorcee as Queen and possibly parliament would abolish the monarchy and make United Kingdom a republic. So Edward abdicated the kingship before he was crowned to marry the women that he loved. He moved to France to live with her for the rest of his life.

    - So Elizabeth's father was crowned King. Even though his name was Albert, he decided to use George as regal name and was known as George 6th. He was a very private man and being King during world war two was very stressful for him. He died only fifteen years later, and his oldest daughter, Elizabeth, became Queen of England.
