Bush thinks we need wiretaps without warrants and laptops seized at entry points in the US.

Ben Franklin said, "Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. "

  1. Ben Franklin of course.  He looks good on Dollar Bills also.  A penny saved is a penny earned, he said.

  2. franklin also said"He that lives upon hope will die fasting".  obama is preaching hope and change,

he also said "Being ignorant is not so much a shame, as being unwilling to learn. " so maybe you should educate yourself on how the modern world differs from the 18th century

"The Constitution only gives people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself"  liberals feel that you are owed happiness.

"Many people die at twenty five and aren't buried until they are seventy five."  you are one of them

"The doors of wisdom are never shut"  you are the exception

he also said "Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing"... so please do so.

i could go on, but i have better things to do than educate you on how the real world works.

  3. I agree with the first respondant, this is an insult to Benjamin Franklin.  To compare a phrase about giving up some liberties for liberty to illegal wiretapping is ridiculous, and to have compared them in the first place is astounding enough since the difference is so staggering.

  4. A stone is more intelligent than GWB.

  5. That question is an insult...to Ben Frankin.

  6. Here is a more debatable question..."who is smarter GW Bush or you" because you asked such a stupid question!

    Funny though...I appreciated the humor.

  7. Well, I don't think we need to wonder about who was more intelligent.  The real question is do we need all the extra security and resulting loss of liberty?  Bush may want all that stuff you cite, but he found out from the Supreme Court that he isn't king, just the president.  The latest surveillance legislation passed Congress by a pretty large margin with a Democratic majority.  And it does require due process.  I can't see the problem, really.

  8. With all due respect, Ben Franklin nullifies Bush policy hundreds of years previous to political inception.

  9. Franklin.  he was centuries ahead of his time.

George Bush makes George III of England's intolerable acts seem reasonable.
