Question:

Who was more of an idiot?

Last night my dad had to pick me up from work. On the way home some car darts out right in front of us and we almost hit them. They then drive like they are lost. My father then proceeds to tailgate the car and repeatedly turns his high beams on and off until they eventually turned at the next corner. So my question is who was more of a jerk the other car who cut us off or *sighs* my dad.

  1. What the other guys did might be a mistake or not.

What your father did was NOT done by accident.

    ===

But he's your father... You gotta luv the big lug.

    Good Luck...

  2. The right answer is... both the other driver AND your dad were being idiots.  The difference is that your dad went on to be a jerk afterwards and kept going with it.

That kind of thing is how road-rage incidents get started, people get injured, or worse.

But just imagine the fun if the guy that pulled out in front of you had been an off-duty or under cover / unmarked cop... that would  have made your evening so much more entertaining :)

  3. I'm with emtboy9 and UCANTCME.

Both were being idiots. The difference is that your dad went on to be a jerk afterwards and kept going with it.

Next time he does something like this, tell him (with sincerity) that you pay attention to his driving because you want to be a good driver just like him.

  4. Your dad more so than the idiot that almost hit you and your dad has a form of road rage as well.....

Road rage happens when a frustrating situation builds up until the drivers involved are no longer in control of their emotions.

Unable to deal with such a situation in a relaxed manner, drivers respond with anger and belligerence. The mechanics of road rage generally play out according to the following model: a driver makes an aggressive maneuver, which causes a second driver to become angry.

When the second driver responds to this perceived act of aggressive driving with hostile gestures or other displays of anger, it can trigger hostility in the offending driver.

This mutual hostility can quickly escalate into verbal abuse or physical assault. Another potential road rage situation is when the offending driver does not return the anger, but becomes a victim of the offended driver's belligerent behavior.

Even when the offending person drives away to avoid confrontation, the offended driver may follow them in an attempt to resolve the conflict through violence.

  5. all dad can get idiot sometime....lol! I could be one someday.

  6. Your dad for road rage which is a crime.

It happens. People make errors. Some do it intentionally and you can tell by how aggressive and short-tempered they are. But some do it by accident. Your dad actually put you both in a dangerous and potentially deadly situation. He needs to learn how to control his anger. Get over it. It happens. Be thankful if you know how to drive defensively.

  7. Well you obviously know the answer to this. It's your dad. He responded in an inappropriate way that sounds like it bordered on road rage driving.

  8. two wrongs do not make a right.....it is good that you see through the excuses and understand right from wrong...

both were jerks... fortunately the other driver did not slam on the brakes or have a gun.....

  9. Big Daddy...

  10. Regardless of who was more of an idiot, the important thing is that you could tell the difference between doing right and being rude.

I think you have the better sense than all in question and have a better chance at success in life because you have a good head on your shoulders.

  11. You already know that it was your dad, huh?

    Yeah, it was your dad.
