Punxsutawney Phil is the most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania, anyway.  He lives in the town of Punxsutawney, PA, about 25 miles from where I live in SW PA.

The whole "GUS" thing is just an advertising gimmick by the PA Lottery to get people to waste their money on gambling.

punxsutawney phil is the most famous groundhog, he is known for groundhog day when they checked for his shadow. Gus isnt really the second most famous groundhog but the lottery is marketing his that way.
