  1. Harold Holt, the Prime Minister was the main representative, and travelled to Westminster Abbey as part of the procession of the Dominion Prime Ministers in a state coach.

Within the Abbey, 250 seats were reserved for Australia, and 7,000 seats were given to Australians for a view to the procession outside. 250 members of the Australian Armed Forces also attended.

  2. Harold Edward Holt became the 17th Prime Minister of Australia in 1966. The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II took place June of 1953, that was 13 years after the Queen was crowned. Harold was a minister of immigration between 1949–56. When Robert Menziesretired in 1966, Holt succeeded as Liberal party leader and prime minister. Therefore, the Prime Minister in 1953 was Robert Menzies.
