Charles XI (or Karl XI), of the House of Palatinate-Zweibrucken, reigned between 1660 and 1697 as the King of the Swedes, Goths, and Wends, Grand Prince of Finland, Duke of Skane, Estonia, Livonia, Karelia, Bremen, Verden, Stettin, Pomerania, . . . and so forth.  Because he preferred hunting to taking an interest in political affairs, Sweden began to develop into the constitutional monarchy it is today during his reign.
