Who was the WWI soldier who said...?

Does anybody know who the WWI soldier was that said "war is nothing but murder?" thanks.

  1. The first person who said it was way before WWI. It was in the 1860's when a woman named Ella Merritt wrote that "civil war is nothing but murder."  Anyone after that is quoting her. Check on line to see if you can find the WWI soldier, but I would bet you many of them have said it.
