  1. is it michael  jackson???

    heh?

  2. I don't think there was ever a black conqueror of Sicily. That Island was conquered by the Muslims, who had remained there for about 200 years. The Muslim leader of the conquering army’s name is Asad Al-Forat, but he died during the battle.

The founder of Cairo, Egypt was black as far as I know, & his name is Jawhar Al-Sicili (the Sicilian in Arabic)

  3. I think that might be Hannibal, the conquerer from Carthage. I'm not sure he was black, but Carthage was indeed in Africa. (It was located in modern-day Tunisia.) And I'm certain Carthage conquered and occupied Sicily for a time. So I'd put my money on Hannibal.

  4. The Romans brought in some slaves, who would have been slightly darker than the native Sicilians, from Egypt and Africa. They conquered Sicily around 240 BC.  (Otherwise, blame the dark skin on the sunlight.)  This factor is significant, because at one time, 1/3 of Italy's population under ancient Rome were slaves, and they interbred freely.

(By the way, Hannibal should not be counted here, as he was not black, but Semitic - Carthage had been settled by people from Phoenicia, which is now Lebanon.)

  5. Again not a Black conqueror - but in the middle ages it was ruled by the muslims.
