Who was the first Punk Rocker to rock the Mohawk?

Hey all, I'm starting an in depth study of Punk Rock, out of curiosity and partially for a project at school. I was wondering, who was the first Punk to cut their hair up into a mohawk and why? I love the hairstyle, and I have a mohawk myself, but I've always wondered where it came from (aside from the Mohawk Indians) and why it was used as a part of punk fashion.

An act of rebellion against the status quo, no doubt. I remember Iggy Pop wearing his hair in a mohawk back in 1969. He was probably the first crowd surfer, too. He would cover himself in schmaltz and dive off the stage, usually onto the floor.

Darby Crash from The Germs was the first in the US to have i believe, when he went to the UK he came back with one but everyone thought it was dumb,i dono who was the first tho,

he wanted to be different be outside the box, just like when he was the first kid at his school to dye his hair blue he wanted to see how people reacted most people stoped being his friend but later other people start doing it
