    Ann Richards was first elected  governor of Texas


  2. Miriam A. Ferguson from 1925 to 1927. Also first female governor to be re-elected.

  3. Ann Richards.  Now there is a woman I could've voted for as President.  She was fair and she was tough.

    Before that,  Miriam Ferguson had been appointed to fill the vacancy created by the impeachment of her husband, but she never ran for the office.
