  1. As far as I know Countess Bathory of Hungary was the first known female vampire in the 17th century. She began to torture her female servants and cut their throats in order to collect the blood to bathe in. Then she decided that drinking their blood would give her longevity. The vampire legend itself began in Angient Egypt and Sumeria however.
