  1. Mas Oyama was believe it not a Korean man. His name Mas Oyama was a number he acquired under Japanese occupation of Korea. He did acquire Japanese citizenship but he always remained true to his Korean identity.

  2. Yes steven seagal if i'm not mistaken although Donn F. Draeger may be there also .

  3. actually it was probably some chinese guy a longggggggg time ago.

in modern times however it was Kanbun Uechi. he was the first person to teach karate in japan full time. he was okinawan, not japanese.

funakoshi introduced karate to japan around 1922 (some say itosu did even before that)...but the first real karate dojo was started in 1925 in wakayama japan by kanbun uechi (uechi ryu karate do)

  4. Stephen Seagal reputedly was the first to own an aikido dojo there... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steven_Seag...

    It was in Osaka, apparently.

then there is this guy, John Viol, may not have been the first, but he seems significant- http://www.seishinkan.com/martial_member...

  5. Steven Seagal.
