Apparently, it's very common.

A friend is a nurse and she has a number of tales regarding the probes. It's a monthly occurence at her hospital when men come in with the probes still up there. Fruit, vegetables and even a pint milk bottle. To me, it doesn't seem very scientific at all. There seems to be further evidence of radiation burns, because every one of the victims is also bright red in the face.
