shortly after Homo-Habalis began to domesticate ...he was the one who was not a hunter but rather a farmer / herder. He domesticated the dog, and trained him to assist in herding sheep & cattle. So it was probably a pure accident when the milk of the cow was discovered. The steer was probably used for putting meat on the table and the cow was only usefull to keep the generations going ... .. untill the milk was discovered then there was a real purpose for herding the cow ..other than motherhood.
