Who was the first person who tried to understand how nature worked? Was it Aristotle? And who was the first person to wonder whether nature was governed by mechanics, rather than God or some other supernatural force? (though this person may have also believed in God)

  1. Benny the Greek.

He was born 3000 years bc and invented science by noticing the smell of his flatulance was not as bad as that of his mother.

  2. It was some guy in a cave, who learn to make tools and use fire.  They didn't write his name down so we know it.

  3. Going by the strict definition of science, it would be an Islamic scientist named Ibn al-Haytham.  He first coined and described the method of scientific thought, the scientific method in his Book of Optics in 1021 AD.

It can also be credited to Copernicus, who wrote a book in 1543 that pushed the idea of a Heliocentric universe that revolutionized how people saw the stars.  This set the standard for the scientific revolution and is considered the birth of modern science.

However, empirical investigations into the natural world has gone back since the dawn of civilization, including Aristotle.

  4. Adam

  5. Nobody knows. It definitely wasn't Aristotle. think of the guy that made fire. He didn't pray or anything, he just started banging stones together, then made fire. He probably didn't pray everytime he made a fire, just banged some rocks together. Therefore, he made an important scientific discovery. Banging stones together = fire. Do you know his name? Nope.

  6. Adam named the animals and he was the one of the first two people to experience the birth of children, the death of animals and his son, and some of the devastation associated with sin.

  7. I do not think we can give him a name, but the ancient Hebrews figured out how to split he atom.  They needed to make a blue dye.  To do it, they figured out that, on sunny days, the blood from the creature turned blue, but on cloudy days, it turned purple.

I do not think they had all of the answers, though.  People still did not understand phenomona like earthquakes, tsunamis, or eclipses.  In fact, we stil do not know what lives at the bottom of the oceanbecause we have never been there.  We do not know if there is any other life out there because we have never traveled that far.

Documentation says that Aristotle was one of the first people to test theories.  Another was Archamedies.

  8. The first scientist was the guy who smelled his friend's first f**t and wondered what his friend ate to make him f**t like that and wondered why did it smell that way.
