Who was the first speaker of English?

  2. i would say england started the language about 500 years ago (it is just my thinking )

  3. I believe this is a hard question to prove and answer because there has been (in history) many forms of english (old english, middle english, modern english, and even late modern english).

    It dates back to a long time ago.  From what I know and remember from school, perhaps even back the 5th century AD from the Angles, and their language was called Englisc (I believe), and thus became English (resided in England).  This was way back when there were the Saxons and Jutes (who are people that are constantly referrenced in literature even to this day).

    I would be interested in knowing what your theory is on who the first speaker of English would be.
