On Aug. 13, 2008, I saw a feature on the entertainment news show called "Extra" on NBC that discussed whether or not Michael Phelps has a girlfriend. They said that on his (real) OFFICIAL (personally-maintained) SwimRoom page (similar to Facebook, but for swimmers ^_^), he listed himself as "single". See it here:

There are rumors of him dating a California beauty queen, but that's all it is: a rumor. But if you think about this, this man is focusing all his energy to break world records, so I don't think he would have time to entertain a girlfriend, as least for now. ^_^

Phelps grew up in the Rodgers Forge neighborhood of Baltimore, Maryland, and graduated from Towson High School in 2003. His father, Fred Phelps, worked for the Maryland State Police and his mother, Debbie Davisson Phelps, is a middle school principal. The two divorced in 1994. Phelps, whose nickname is "MP," has two Older sisters, Whitney and Hilary.
