I pick John Elway. He had the arm and the ability to lead the Broncos to come from behind victories. Elway did it with poise and determination. At first he was clumsy, but he matured to become the greatest QB ever.

  1. Randall Cunningham

3 Time MVP with a no offensive line and no offensive weapons.

  2. tom brady he has the records and superbowl wins

  3. if we go by stats brett favre

    3 mvp's

    1 super bowl

    all passing records

that sounds like the best to me

  4. i agree... he started off bad but then he totally changed and blossomed.... he had an amazing arm and his ability to lead was great...  but I'm gonna go with Montana... his comeback ability was great and never choked under the pressure

  5. Joe Montana 4-0 in superbowls. 3 time superbowl MVP(only ever). 2 time league MVP (one of only five to do so). He also had way better comebacks than John Elway (superbowl 23).

  6. montana or unitas.  but if i'm starting a team, it's marino.

  7. depends how you look at it. Greatest accomplishments and highlights, superbowl rings or just greatest overall performance in their career? To me, statistically, Dan Marino is the greatest. Achievement hightlight wise, probably Joe Montana. Elway is one not the best, but among the legends.

  8. I totally agree its Elway. As a Chiefs fan I saw him a lot and feared nobody more.

  9. Joe Montana...Greatest at bringing the team back from behind and 4-0 in Super Bowls

  10. Sammy Baugh.  Check out HOF.com  Baugh turned the running back who threw sometimes into the pass first QB we know.  And he played a better Safety than Elway.

  11. Johnny Unitas was the best qb ever no doubt about it.  He had the stats like all the other great qb's and he won the big games a time or two

  12. Nope it is Montana, Marino and Unitas.  elway isn't in the top 5.  Sorry

  13. John Elway and Dan Marino were the best at bringing a team back from behind. Marino was the best ever.

  14. Jay Cutler up and coming

    ooooooo rah

  15. i dont know how one would judge whom is the best ,what do you go by superbowl wins yards passed mvps?

  16. Based on talent it was Elway however since we judge winning the most I have to give it 2 Montana and I would put Favre ahead of Marino because Marino has never won a Superbowl so its

    Montana

    Elway

    Favre

    Marino

  17. Its hard to say who the best would be because of the huge differences in the Era they played.

It could be Unitas, he played way back in the day, before they had vitamin suppliments, heavy workout regimens, 2 a days, instant replay/challenges, Roughing penalties. How would he be today if he had access to all these "upgrades" ??

Then on the other hand, How would Elway be if he had to play in the era Unitas played?? Without the instant replay, etc, etc.

Its hard to determine who they best of all time is because of the huge differnces and how the NFL has changed so dramatically since its inception.

You also have to look at the SUPPORT the QB had to make him so good, most of the "Great" quarterbacks wouldnt be anyhting if they didnt have great RB's, WR's, Defense, or a Line to protect them. Throw any of these "Great" QB's on the Dolphins of last year and see how good they would have done. So this question really cant be answered factually. I can give my opinion on the matter tho...

    Joe Montana

ESPN also put out a list which was done on actual fact, I will copy and paste it here:

Marv Levy, Art Rooney Jr., Zeke Bratkowski, Ken Meyer, Larry Kennan, James Harris and d**k Haley helped ESPN.com evaluate the best quarterbacks in NFL history. ESPN.com weighed their contributions, balancing rankings with anecdotal evidence, to create the following list.

    OVERALL

    1. Johnny Unitas

    2. Joe Montana

    3. Tom Brady

    4. Dan Marino

    5. Peyton Manning

    6. John Elway

    7. Terry Bradshaw

    8. Brett Favre

    9. Otto Graham

    10. Dan Fouts

  18. It depends on what makes a quarterback great.  If it's raw numbers then it would be Favre or Marino

If it's championships then it would be Otto Graham who played in 10 straight winning 7 of them

  19. Joe Montaunya (waterboy)

  20. Jonny U paved the way football is played today!

  21. Obviously you kids are all too young to know. The Greatest Quarterback to EVER to play the Game was Johnny Unitas of the Baltimore Colts. He invented the position as we know it today. He is the Quarterback that all of these other Quarterbacks you mention have said they aspire to be. He was, in a word, Amazing. Just check out film of him leading the Colts down the field in the final two minutes of the 1958 NFL Championship Game against the New York Football Giants at yankee Stadium, if you need any proof. This was the drive that sent the game into the NFL's FIRST sudden death overtime. This was the day the 2 minute drill was invented. This was the greatest performance ever by a Quarterback, and just one of so many! Johnny Unitas was the Greatest NFL Quarterback ever. If you don't believe me, ask John Elway. Ask Dan Marino. Ask Joe Montana. Ask Any Pro Quarterback.

  22. statistically its farve, but i would take montana if i was starting a team
