I believe one ancient greek teacher really stressed the idea to his students that they should question everything they were told, does anyone know who he was?

  1. It was Socrates. The Socratic method, was one of of leading himself and others to understanding through questioning and dialog. Such a process which required the participants to clarify their beliefs and understanding. His favorite approach was to lead the protagonist into argument while pretending his own ignorance of the matter, a technique known as Socratic irony. He was master of the negative dialectic, better at destroying the definition and propositions of others than offering his own.
