  2. 1997 Winner GREG RUSEDSKI

After almost 60 years Rusedski was the first British man to reach a Grand Slam singles final in the 1997 US Open Championship. He was defeated by Pat Rafter but it did nothing to diminish the efforts of the Canadian-born tennis player in the eyes of the British Public.
