  1. While commander in chief?  Only Washington.in the Whiskey Rebellion.

Jackson, Grant, T. Roosevelt, and Eisenhower led battles before becoming President.

  2. dwight eisenhower was a leader. But the last combat veteran was george bush sr

  3. Before Bush, Bill Clinton. He bombed a pharmaceutical factor in Sudan, bombed and sent forces to Kosovo, etc. There's a few other operations that are considered battles, so I hope this helps.

  4. While in Office? none that I have ever heard of.

    Otherwise, I'd say Eisenhower.

  5. Do you mean down in the mud, blood and guts kind of leading? Well no Commander in Chief has ever led a battle. There have been some who had lead troops in battle but they wouldn't have been Commander in Chief at the time.

  6. Theodore Roosevelt but that was when he was younger and not yet the president.

The guy had a cavalry unit and the real one! With horses! He was sooo badasssss!

  7. The President GW Bush. They dictate how the war is to be fought and to what end.

  8. I believe it was James Maddison was president during the War of 1812, I believe it was the battle for Washington, D.C. His wife grabbed the painting of George Washington while he was at the front lines leading the troops.

  9. The Honorable George W. Bush

  10. *I was wrong*

  11. No one.  The Commander in Chief is always a civilian and therefore not qualified to lead troops in battle.  Besides that his position is to form overall policy and not to implement it.

  12. george washington?

  13. chuck norris
