Just in terms of pure talent and abilty.

In my mind it's Mickey Mantle. He could've been better if not for injurys and the bottle

  1. I agree.  Had he stayed healthy, he would have better numbers than Mays and probably the HR record.

  2. Celerino Sanchez.

  3. Roberto Clemente,

  4. Arod

  5. Edgar Martinez or Barry Bonds

  6. The Natural!

  7. Bo Jackson

  8. Probably Babe Ruth.

  9. Roberto Clemente.

Maybe not, but I like to put his name out there in discussions like these.  He was a fine player and humanitarian.

  10. pure athlete i'd have to say bo jackson the man's a machine. ps whoever said edgar martinez is dumb that guys not an athlete he's just a good hittwe

  11. Bret Favre could have been if only Greenbay had understood him better

  12. Willie Mays, he was the definition of a five tool player.

  13. I would have to say Willie Mays. Best all-around player. Hit for average, power, had speed, great fielder, and a great arm.

  14. For me, there isn't much of a way this answer isn't Babe Ruth. Name someone else capable of bombing as many HRs with as high of an average and all this after he was the best left handed pitcher in the league.  No one in MLB history was that kind of threat with both the bat and their arm.

  15. THE MOST TALENTED OF ALL TIME WAS EITHER RUTH OR MAYS AND IN MY MINE THERE IS NO QUESTION IT WAS ONE OF THOSE TWO. AS FAR AS MR. MANTLE GOES I THINK HE HAD GREATER POTENTIAL THAN ANYONE ELSE BUT THE QUESTION WAS BEST OF ALL TIME AND NOT WHO COULD HAVE BEEN THE BEST.

  16. Mine: d**k Pole - it takes talent to play with that name

  17. Stan the Man. .331 career average, 3630 hits, and 475 home runs. That requires talent and ability.

  18. If only Clemente could have had Willie Mays speed, it would have been him no contest, but no player before or since had the total athleticism and abilities that the Say Hey Kid had.

  19. I think it must be Babe Ruth.

  20. If you want to talk about baseball talent, then I think the best answer is probably Willie Mays.  He was the epitomy of a five-tool player.
