When the SR 71 was an active Air Force resource, there were several of them in service, and an entire Air Force Squadron of pilots and maintenance personnel dedicated to their operation.

There were only 93 SR-71 pilots during the Blackbirds active duty.  The rear seater was called the RSO - Reconnaissance Systems Officer.
