  5. The history channel is not the ultimate authority on the end of the world.  They completely ignored the most probable cause for our impending doom in 2012.  It is a fact that the suns magnetic activity peaks on an eleven year cycle, and it will be peaking in 2012. Although it peaks every eleven years, the one in 2012 is expected to be especially strong and will cause massive power outages and possibly destroy all of the communications satellites that orbit the earth and cause widespread panic and rioting, destabilize governments, and lead to the final world war. There are allot of people on this site that don't want you to know the truth and pretend to be experts. They are just trying to calm the fears of the masses, but when doomsday comes in 2012 there is nothing that you or anyone else will be able to do about it.

faesson, a recent article I read in Astronomy magazine offered compelling evidence that once every 23 cycles the sun puts has especially strong solar storms, and the cycle that will peak from 2010 to 2012 will be the one of these super storms.  The butterfly chart that you display does not go back 255 years to show when the suns activity peaked last.  The only records of previous major solar storms are anecdotal accounts of the aurora borealis being sighted further south than any time in modern history.  It was not devastating then because they did not have electronics and power grids that could be destroyed.
