  1. Nwankwo Kanu is the youngest captain in World Cup history at just 21 in 1998. Interestingly enough, Turgay Seren (22 years old, 33 days) and Ladislav Novák (22 years old, 193 days) were second and third respectively and both appeared in the 1954 FIFA World Cup. Not to mention, Harry Keough is fourth on the list of youngest ever captains, and he appeared in the 1950 FIFA World Cup. It seems back then, age wasn't really a contributing factor in captaincy.
