  1. im 16 now so i didnt get to see some of the old greats, but the driver that became my favorite and still is, is jeff gordon.  I wish I would have been able to watch people like richard petty and david pearson race though.

  2. Jeff Gordon. because he wins, and wins, and wins some more.

  3. Richard Petty. My grandfather was a Lee Petty fan, my dad was a Richard Petty fan. Got to meet him at Level Cross one time. Took time to speak to us and sign some autographs....just a class act. Now my 8year son and I root for the #43.

  4. Rusty Wallace, my dad was a big ford racing fan

  5. Lee Petty   Saw him race in Daytona before a real track was there

  6. David Pearson (Silver Fox) because I loved the way he drove, loved his cars, and loved the Wood brothers.

  7. Fireball Roberts was my first fav (R.I.P), then  Fearless Fred Lorenzen became my fav, he was young and cute and all the gals loved him, and he was a great driver as well.

    Go Dale Jr & Hms

  8. Ernie Irvan. I don't know why, I just did. I was so hopeful he could make a great comeback after that awful accident but after 5 years and another wreck and mild head injury he decided to retire. One of my favorite Nascar memorabilia is an Ernie Irvan # 88 Texaco Havoline diecast.

  9. Cale Yarbrough...he was dads favorite driver, and he introduced me to NASCAR when I was a kid.  Saw my first race at Talladega.  Yarbrough was in the Hardees Chevrolet, got upside down, climbed right out.  He is a tough SOB....loved the fight he had at Daytona.  NASCAR won't let drivers be themselves anymore, they have to be politically correct and all.

  10. My first favorite driver was, is, and always will be Bill Elliott. He was my dad's favorite and so, being an impressionable kid, I made him my favorite. I made a pretty good choice for fav driver.

  11. Alan Kulwicki

    R.I.P

He was an owner/driver who had an amazing Winston Cup win in 1992!

  12. Cale Yaroborough was my first fave, he was GREAT!

  13. 3 to start and just stayed with the family............Unlike some, I know he is not and never will be as good as his Dad but he knows that too and that is why I like him. He is just trying to be HIMSELF.

  14. I never really had a favorite, probably because i'm greedy. My attention span is too wide. I like them all. But if you want me to do some name dropping, I could say Darrel Waltrip

  15. Jimmie Johnson!

    not exactly sure why...

my mom & brother finally got me to watch a nascar race...& they told me to pick a driver...

oh, wait..i remember...i told my mom "whoever is in 1st RIGHT now...that's who i'm gonna cheer for" & it was Jimmie. & i've always been a fan since.

  16. Dale Jr. and he still is.

  17. silver fox and no neck the fox because he and the king went round after round with him just awesome!no neck because he was just a hard race car driver!

  18. Dale Earnhardt Sr.- I started dating a boy in 1987, when I was 14 who's family were all NASCAR fans, Dale was his favorite driver, I knew nothing of the sport, so I just picked my boyfriend's favorite. *That boyfriend is now my husband*

  19. Richard Petty, because of my Dad. He used to take me to races in the 60's and that's who he was pulling for and I just started liking him because of that.

  20. Rusty Wallace. A great driver, and a real character (for better or worse) the time he paid a fine in pennies-that's style!

And the fact that his sponsor (at the time) was my favorite beer (MGD) didn't hurt.

  21. My first favorite was Elliott Sadler but I moved around a lot for a few years before coming back and settling on Sadler. I was actually in the Jimmie Johnson fan club in 2003!

  22. Fireball Roberts.  I was just a kid.  I don't really remember why.  After Fireball died I became a Richard Petty fan for the longest time.
