Question:

Who watched last nights game? What did you think of the umpiring?

The Eagles would not have won no matter who was umpiring but the over-zealous use of the 50 metre penalty was the worst I have ever seen in all my years of watching football.

The trouble with umpires who have never played the game is that they don't take into consideration the heat & intensity in the minds of the participating players. The umpires carry on & treat the players like erring schoolboys.

Those penalties last night were for the mildest discretions I have ever seen. It was definately not a "be kind to WCE night".

  1. The umps appear to have been told that we punters are watching them when they are at Subi or AAMI and do what the fans tell them!

So being conscientious little tykes, they are over-correcting and awarding 50s every time WCE passed gas.

Which amounted to a sloppy, interrupted game.

Don't care for either team be the way, but the Blues did play better, so they deserved the win..

  2. that waz the worse umpiring that i have ever seen

  3. bla bla bla

go jump in the swan river and drown

  4. Heyy u r kinda right

The penaltys did get used alot but

the umpires had warned that they would give a free kicks nd 50m penaltys it fights were gonna happen no where near the balll

Im a carlton supporter and im glad we got those free kickss

after wat happened to us last week

    GO BLUESSSS

  5. I thought the umpiring was terrible - again!

Those puny little blokes, running around in bright colours, mistakenly think that they are the centre of attraction.

They just love trying to show who is boss, prancing backwards like poonces, while blowing their whistle & having trouble estimating the 50 m penalty.

  6. yeah your right i was just glad we won even though the umps gave 29 Free's to your mob compared to 18 to the blues, lucky your rabble of a team were so un-disciplined that even your own coach said as much at half time. and lucky for us WE HAVE CHRIS JUDD,that's gotta hurt.

  7. I know!

I am an eagles supporter but i don't think i am being bias when i say that the umps decisions were favourable towards the blues.

I reckon if the umpiring was consistant then the eagles might of come back in the fourth quater. I mean we were h**l on a roll. The 3rd quarter was sooooo exciting, the biggest glimmer of hope that i have seen the ENTIRE SEASON.

I know all you ppl will bag me when i say this but i really believe that in the second half of the year and next year the eagles really will be extremely competitive. All our great players are either suspended or injured so now our rookies get a chance and if you take a look at the third quater against the blues (half the team were rookies) our chances are looking up.

  8. yes Carlton was ripped of 28free west coast

    18 Carlton

    you have a good point

  9. They were terrible.

Not blaming anyone for who won or lost (except the players of course) but the umpires nowadays just can't seem to talk to the players as they did a few years back. Now if a player says 'boo' they whack a 50 metre penalty on him.

Someething needs to be done about the standard of umpiring & they shoulkd get this "little Hitler" attitude out of their behaviour.

  10. I watched it & loved it!

We got 50m penalties & goals for nothing. Just love those Victorian umpires!

  11. i thought they were to quick to give away the 50s

  12. i think they were instructed to watch Judd and pay anything that slightly looked like a free, they were too Judd conscious, truth be known so were west coast, they just tried to get him too often, they should know it's all been tried b4.  the eagles lost the plot a bit i think. the umpiring wouldn't help the players temperament, that's for sure.

the frees might of favoured the eagles in the end but it didn't start out that way.

  13. yeah well the 50 meters being thrown around were c**p..Correct me if i am wrong but in the last 15 min there was a 50 meter awarded against Fev,WHY? i cant stand Fev but it did not look like a 50 was warranted...

There were 5,50 meters given to WC last night as well as all the free kicks too,i think the Umpiring was pretty 1 sided..

And no i aint a Carlton supporter neither,i just think the umpires were favoring WC thats all

  14. I won't drone on but anyone who has answered my previous questions knows how I feel about umpiring today, and I think that with the betting and commercialism of the AFL now, there is much more behind the umpire decisions than whatever happens on the ground at the time. Try looking at really close games and some of the dreadful decisions that are made in the dying minutes.

I believe that umpires are no longer there to officiate the game, but to influence the outcome!

  15. i hate umpire d**k head, no really his last name is head so i call him that!

he can't bounce the ball, as seen in  eagles vs. pies in 2005, he bounced the ball 30m out from pies goal and it ended up untouched in the goal square to chris egan who got a goal

and last night he was patrolling the carlton forward fifty in the second quarter giving away all those nonsense fifity's that resulting in goals...

beware eagles fans, when u see umpire head on the list of umpires umpiring an eagles game!!!

  16. I saw the game & the umpiring was pitiful.

Victoria's way of evening up the competition.

  17. i didnt really notice waht the umps were doing coz i havnt been paying attention to them. all umpires in the AFL and VFL are stupid. and anyway, WCE deserved to lose coz they suck.

  18. Yeah pretty average umpiring wasnt it.

I think the umpires tried to set a precedent that they werent taking any violent c**p but I think they did a shotty job at it..

Good to see it was a team effort to win..

  19. i think the 50m penalties were a joke, but it shoulnt mater they were to busy focusing on chris judds return and they were to undisciplined in the 2nd quarter and that is what lost them the  game. if they had kicked atleast 2 or 3 goals in the second quarter they may have won but they were to undisciplined. the players need to step up and consentrate on their footy, everygame this year its like they stop in the 2nd quarter and then they play catch up footy and can never get over the line.

  20. typical WCE whinge again....blaming the umpires..blah blah

I dont blame the umpires for the Pies losing, we were just $hit!
