I need to read an autobiography/biography on an american political or government figure.

So far I had in mind Jackie Kennedy Onassis, or JFK.

Any other ideas?

Ps. No current events please.

  1. Martin Luthur King

    Ronald Regan

    Nixon

  2. Harry Hopkins.

This guy worked for Roosevelt -- he started as the Federal Relief Administrator during the depression and went on to be a "special ambassador" during WWII. He was probably one of the most influential, yet least noticed men around. Fascinating guy. He was very sick during the latter part of the war and barely hung on.

Here's an on-line book and some other resources.

There has even been talk that he turned out to be a Soviet Spy, but I rather doubt that.

At any rate, I can pretty much guarantee you'd be the only one writing about him!

  3. You could do Lincoln or his wife.

  4. teddy roosevelt...........quite a life

  5. Thurgood Marshall is a good choice, he lead an interesting public life.

He began his career as an attorney for the NAACP arguing cases before the Supreme Court. Was appointed the U.S. Solicitor General by Lyndon Johnson in 1962 and in 1964 was appointed by President Johnson to serve as a Justice on the Supreme Court.  He was the first African-American to serve in either post.
