  1. They were the fictional children in a series of books called "The Bobbsey Twins". Their parents were Richard and Mary Bobbsey and there were 2 sets of fraternal twins, Bert and Nan being the older and Flossie and Freddie being the younger.

On a personal note, that coicindentally was my brother's and my nickname growing up but for the life of me to this day could never understand why. The older twins had brown eyes and brown hair where as the younger two had blue eyes and blonde hair where as my brother and myself looked nothing alike (he had brown hair brown eyes, I had blond hair blue eyes). Oh, I forgot to mention, we weren't even fraternal twins but 1 yr and a half apart.

  2. There were Bert and Nan, slim, brown-eyed, straight-haired brunettes, the older of two sets of fraternal twins; and of course Flossie and Freddie, who were chubby, blue-eyed, curly-haired blonds, the younger twins.
