Who were the last kids raised in the White House? Who was the last one born in the White House and grew up there.

We know Chelsea lived there but she was a teen, not a child who ran around and played.

When was the last time kids were there....was it the Kennedy's? Or who were other little kids who were raised in the white house?

Thanks - we have searched the net with no answers.

  1. Patrick Kennedy was the last one born in the White House, but since he did not survive but a few days, I guess that is not the answer you are looking for.  I will go back to Grover Cleveland.  He had to marry a young lady because he and she,,,uh... ya know.  Correct?

  3. It was not until 1800, when the White House was nearly completed, that its first residents, President John Adams and his wife, Abigail, moved in. By that time Abigal was a grandmother (from her only living child Nabby).

James Madison Randolph, was the first child born in the White House,(Thomas  Jefferson's grandson by daughter Martha.) Since Martha had assumed First Lady duties at her mother's death, James was raised in the Whitehouse.

    Looking backward :

Chelsea Victoria Clinton was 13 when first she lived at the Whitehouse.

Amy Carter Wentzel was 10 when first she lived at the Whitehouse  (daughter of James Earl Carter, Jr.)

Susan Ford Vance Bales was 18, however she was the only presidential daughter to have her senior prom in the White House.

Steven Meigs Ford was 17 when he first lived at the Whitehouse.

    Luci Baines Johnson was 16.

    Lynda Bird Robb was 19

    Caroline Kennedy Schlossberg was 6

John Fitzgerald Kennedy, Jr. was 1

Patrick Bouvier Kennedy born and died two days later while President Kennedy was in office 1963.

    John Aspinwall Roosevelt was 17

Franklin Delano Roosevelt, Jr. was 19

Calvin Coolidge Jr. was 15 and died of blood poisoning while in the Whitehouse a year later.

Elizabeth Ann Harding was only two when Warren G. Harding became President, but as an illegitimate child (an affair with Nan Britton, thirty years his junior), she never was in the Whitehouse nor publically acknowledged by Harding.

[Harding never met this daughter...in today's times of public/media scrutiny Harding  certainly couldn't have become president. And we think we've had presidential scandals lately? ]

Edith Bolling Galt became Woodrow Wilson's second wife while he was in office but the ceremony was not at the Whitehouse. Edith was 42 at the time and they had no children.

  4. Amy Carter?
