Who will Nadal prefer to play on his comeback; Murray or Tipsarevic? – Tennis Special
Former world number one, Rafael Nadal, is being missed by many tennis fanatics across the globe. However, the wait will be over in a couple of weeks when the Spaniard will hit the tennis courts in Dubai.
It has been six months since the viewers witnessed the fourth ranked Spaniard, Nadal, in action. The chronic knee injury kept him out of the tennis circuit for the entire summer and the fall season but the 26-year-old Spaniard
has confirmed his comeback at the start of the new season. He is scheduled to feature in the Mubadala World Tennis Championships at Abu Dhabi which begins towards the end of December.
The Spaniard was forced to exit the Wimbledon Championships at the second round stage when the Czech underdog, Lukas Rosol, thumped the Spaniard in an enthralling five-setter. Since that moment, the King of Clay Courts has sidelined
himself to rehabilitate the injured left-knee that has troubled him throughout his career.
Moreover, there is a mighty probability that the former world number one will possibly began his comeback campaign against the reigning US Open Champion, Andy Murray. The motivated Spanish superhero updated a status on his facebook
page stating, “Can’t wait to get back on court in Abu Dhabi at the end of the month.” He is eager to be back in the business but the initial test will be a tough one if he is to play with a contender who registered a breakthrough season in 2012.
The other possibility for the 11-time Grand Slam Champion is that he might have to lock horns against the ninth ranked Serb star, Janko Tipsarevic, at Abu Dhabi, on the eve of 28th December. Other players who will be
in the hunt for a successful warm-up event at Abu Dhabi include the likes of the reigning world number one Novak Djokovic, fifth ranked Spanish tennis icon David Ferrer and the dominant personality in the Czech’s Davis Cup win earlier this season, Tomas Berdych.
If Nadal locks horns with Murray in his comeback contest, one of the two things will happen; either the Spaniard will be able to break the two match losing streak against the 25-year-old Briton or the Olympic gold medallist will
register a hat-trick of wins against him.
From his stupendous career, one thing is inevitable that he is not going to give up so easily. It doesn’t matter if he is coming after a decade’s break either. He is going to hit the ball as hard as he can and run across the court
with the same speed and agility like before. Hence, it will be better for him to play against the third ranked Briton and challenge himself rather faces a lower ranked player like Tipsarevic.
Defeat in any case will hurt him but losing at the hands of an inferior player will not be acceptable to him. Hence, it will be a win-win situation for Nadal if he is drawn against Murray instead of the Serb.
