I think the #18 and #99 as well as #77 will be most affected and they will struggle to find a better handling package. RCR and HMS as well as the #20 team will start to pick up more wins.

  1. The 99 for sure, since his car was the one Gordon called out.  No doubt they were crossing the line.  The Penske guys (77 in particular)....not sure that the 18 was yawed out that much anyway, was he?  But for sure, Roush and Penske.

  2. I agree with you to some point. I don't think that the #18 will be affected much though. He just drives whatever he is given like a wild man. I don't think we will see him win as much, because the other racers who didn't drive their cars so skewed will be on a more even keel. I hate to say it, but I think Kyle will still be up there though. He doesn't know any other way! The only bad thing is, if Dale Jr. wins one now, there will be critics that say that they had to "take that away from Kyle" so Jr. could win, and favortism and all that nonsense.

  3. i think it will affect the penske boys more than anyone, particularly hornish.  rowdy, edwards, newman, and kurt busch have had wins before, in all sorts of cars and configurations.  they (particularly carl) was able to exploit it early in the year to become "that much better," but he's still a force to be reckoned with. i read and heard that it was busch who was riding behind him and called his crew chief and told him how much yaw carl was running, and that started the onslaught of teams trying it out as well.

and busch had mentioned the possibility last year at the atlanta test, as tony and denny supposedly didn't believe he could run the thing with so much yaw. he showed them that it could work, but jgr didn't implement it, at least not to the extreme that carl did, and definitely not as much as hornish did. that was part of some interview long before all this ever came up.

so it may slow carl down a little, but when he has won, he has won so big that it probably won't hurt much, and i'm not sure that either he or kyle were pushing it out of the bounds now set by nascar to begin with.  hornish and newman, on the other hand, were way out of whack, so i think it will affect them.

  4. Denny Hamlin stated on wind tunnel that JGR uses minimal yaw if any.  None of their drivers likes it and he laughed at the excessive use by other teams.  So take the #18 out of that equation. I don't believe it will affect many teams that much.

    Good question though.

  5. The Penske team will be affected the most. Their cars were the most sideways of any of them, especially the the #77 and the #48 of HMS was a little crooked.(no pun intended)

  6. I think the new rule will affect Penske the most. during the sprint showdown, sam hornish clearly had the most yaw in his car. and during the coke 600, all the penske teams had alot of yaw in there car, but once again it was hornish with the most yaw so maybe it will only hurt hornish and not busch and newman

  7. Here's another perfect example of jeffy and Rick H whining and crying until they get what they want from NASCAR.

It will DEFINITELY affect the 99, since Roush is more or less the ones who brought this back.  This was tried back in the late 80's/early 90's, but no one could make it work.
