Looks like Joe Calzaghe will fight Roy Jones in the fall, latest I heard. Arthur Abraham perhaps? Thoughts on what would be the most entertaining, best fight?...and if anyone's heard any credible nuggets on who next opponent actually may be...

  1. I dont think there is anyone particular fighter out there yet who's been mentioned as a possible opponent for Pavlik, although Bob Arum has talked to Paul Williams about a possible fight sometime in September, i personally dont think Williams is gonna take the fight because he is a Welterweight (147 lbs.) and Pavlik is a natural Middleweight (160 lbs.) so that in itself would mean that Williams would have to put on 13 lbs. by September and to be honest i dont think Williams can pull that off, so with that said, i havent heard of any other fighters who might face Pavlik anytime soon.

  2. lets see i heard from some promoters that it might be Sergio mora don't know why mora would want to get beat around like that but hey at least we could watch a training session for pavlik vs. mora  should be interesting to see what happens but most likely wont know anything till august

  3. Abraham is definitely the fight that is in the making but that won't take place until early next year. Pavlik wants a fight late September or October at the latest. There was talk of Mora but they couldn't negotiate and so Mora will fight Vernon Forrest in a rematch most likely. Other talks have been with John Duddy and Marco Antonio Rubio but HBO and Showtime didn't find these intriguing enough. Also Winky Wright was an option but Wright demanded an outragious amount of money so currently the talk is of Paul Williams

Paul Williams is actually a very tough fight. Some make the mistake of dismissing him because he is fighting at welterweight but he struggles to get down to that weight and would be much more comfortable as a midleweight. Also he is 6'1" which is tall for a middleweight or a welterweight. Pavlik is very tall as well but only an inch taller than Williams. Both fighters are aggressive and throw an exceptional number of punches. Williams actually throws more - sometimes going over 100 a round throughout the whole fight. The one advantage Pavlik would have is power and that would probably be the difference. However Williams beat Margarito despite being outmatched in power simply by the multitude of punches.

Eventually he wants to clean out the division and unify the titles so Abraham and Sturm are his ultimate middleweight goals as long as they hold onto their portion of the titles. He will not pass up a lucrative deal at higher weight though if that comes first. The winner of Calzaghe and Roy Jones Jr. would be a great draw if they would be willing sometime next year.

  4. Paul Williams or Raul Marquez, Mora isnt possible because he has a rematch clause w/ Forrest

  5. not abraham, he will be fighting raul marquez.

mora needs to pay forrest off be to get a pavlik fight because he has a rematch clause but mora wants more than arum is offering because he would need to pay forrest to step aside,

winky has lowered his asking price so he is possible,

really its up in the air
