Whether or not Detroit wins this year, I say Nick Lidstrom. The Wings are already set up to make the finals again next year with there two new signings of the MVP in the SM-liiga and the best goalie in the SEL.

If Detroit doesn't win this year???? I say Nicklas Lidstrom, because Detroit *will* win this year and even if they don't, they'll win next year.

I think it could be Mats Sundin if:

A:) he plays a few more years and

B:) he gets traded to/signs with a contending team in the offseason. I thought he'd leave Toronto this year, but he says winning a cup with a team means playing for them all year. He's a great player and great leader, just stuck on a crappy team. I feel bad for him
