  1. None.....

  2. None. They all sux at road course.

Its most likely going to be coming from Nascar who has a good experience driving road courses, like Jeff Gordon, Robby Gordon (Robby is too tall for F1)

  3. If any American goes to F-1 in the near future it will be Graham Rahal.  F-1 teams like young drivers with a lot of road course experience.  Marco has been very inconsistent with the best IRL team, Busch has little road course and no open-wheel experience and Danica doesn't drive road courses very well.  She never won at all when she was in Formula Atlantic.  Katherine Legge had three road course wins in Formula Atlantic.

  4. Danica Patrick.

  5. No one; none of them are good enough

  6. None of the above.....F1 is in the rear-view mirror of drivers after the Scott Speed fiasco. Why should an American driver go to Europe, be treated like garbage by a team only looking for the sponsor checks that are brought from the USA and limp around a course with garbage equipment.

  7. Probably Marco. Who's Kylie?

  8. If any American has a shot it would probably be Graham Rahal.

Danica can't even run up front in the IRL, Marco is making BANK working for daddy, and the only other realistic possibility would be Ryan Hunter Reay...Tony Stewart could do it if he got in better shape but his f****s is making too much money in NASCAR to start traveling that much.

EDIT>>> NASCAR cars actually have MORE horsepower than INDY Cars .....except when restrictor plates are used.

They are heavier and run a few hundred less RPM which also induces more torque....Cup Cars really are difficult cars to drive and those boys deserve credit for doing it.

ADD.... dalejr4ever, you really crack me up!.....you called Kyle Busch a "shrub"!!!!.....I agree... I have the utmost respect for all racecar drivers but putting the "shrub" in an open wheeler would be a joke....very few have been able to "cross over"....either way.... only the likes of AJ Foyt, Mario Andretti, and yes.....even Tony Stewart have been able to win a championship in each dicipline....he'd be eaten in F1 harder than Hornish and Franchitti are getting eaten in NASCAR right now!!!....he'd actually probably kill someone....keep him in the big heavy cars.....he can drive but his finesse is questionable.....

  9. non of the above

I HATE DANICA THE WHINNY A** HOLE

i think helio or 1 of the andrett's they are awesome

    ANY 1 BUT DANICA:(:(:(

  10. non of the above.

  11. An excellent and intriguing question.

If you're looking at IndyCar Series racers, I would think my money would be on either Marco Andretti or Graham Rahal.  Both have good road course skills, and have a "name" attached to them.

I've gotta write off the NASCAR drivers for one reason:  Lack of road course experience.  Yes, they do drive them, but there's only 2 of them on the regular season, and only an additional race in Nationwide.  They're also heavier, and have less horsepower.  Can't see any tintop drivers going.

Now ... two other areas to look at (potentially).  Both Atlantic and Firestone Indy Lights have some young Americans driving open wheel cars.  Most of the drivers in both series are relatively young, and are getting valuable experience driving road/street and oval courses.  You could see a move in the F1 direction potentially.  The only problem is that usu. F1 drivers need to start at their age, so it may be too late.  I know there are several minor series in Europe that might have a few American drivers, but I couldn't tell you names, to be honest.

Anyway, that's just a few ideas.  I think the bigger hangup isn't necessarily with an American driver, but an American manufacturer.  Without one, names aren't readily being made available.  Tough for our manufacturers to shell out loads of dough for something like that, though.

  12. The only way an American gets to F1 is by dominating in the states.  Villeneuve had to do it to get there when American Open Wheel Racing was much stronger in 1994.  Michael Andretti, Zanardi, and Bourdais are all further examples.

Of the three mentioned, Danica is clearly not f1 material, unless some feminine products company buys an f1 team and wants a driver that wears panties.

Marco is nowhere near dominant enough in aowr to get there.

Kyle is a stock car driver.  As tough as it is for JPM to go from f1 to stock cars, the reverse has never been done in the modern era.  If he wanted to and wanted to make the sacrifices, he might be able to.  In his series, he is at the moment dominant, but again that is NASCAR and the cars are so different no one knows if he could be that good in an open wheel car with heavy downforce, high power to weight, high grip, and low weight.  He is more likely than the other two simply because he can't be ruled out yet, but he can't be ruled out yet because he has never driven an open wheel car.

So I vote for none of the above.

  13. Marco Andretti.  Before Indy, he raced on A LOT of road courses, and actually won many of them.  Don't forget, he got his first win in the IndyCar Series at Sonoma when he was only 19.

  14. Graham Rahal has said he'd like to drive F1 as well as Marco Andretti, and then we have this Shrub in Nascar called Kyle Busch that wants to drive F1... I'd gladly give F1 Kyle Busch anytime..
