  1. Federer and Nadal are going to alternate taking championships for the next 2-3 years.

    Roddick is gone.

  2. djokovic will be #1 then possibly gulbis

  3. Federer probably... I wan't to know what happened to Andy Roddick.  He used to have an unstoppable serve and now he is #8.

  4. right now Nadal, but Federer will definately come back to no. 1 after mental recovery( wimbledon)

  5. Federer will regain the top post in 2009.

  6. The next one to become number 1, will be either Djokovic or/and Murray. Both will exchange positions in time. For now Nadal should remain there, but will become more interesting next season with him, Federer, Novak, Murray, DelPotro keeping it quite close. At least much closer than it has been in recent years.

  7. I highly doubt Del Potro will ever get to no.1, he's not consistent enough. I think Nadal will hang on for one or two years and then Djokovic or Murray will break through. They're the only two players who can really challenge him. Federer's history and will be out of the top 5 in a year's time.

  8. go nadal!

after nadal, the number 1 should be novak djokovic without doubt.

  9. Djokovic.

  10. If Federer can get his mojo back then the safe money is on him, even though i think he has lost some of his speed around the court and weight on his forehand,

Don't easily dismiss Andy Murray's chances of making a challenge for number one. He has a game that can tie anyone in knots, but his serve is a bit of a weakness.

To be honest i don't see why some people think Roddick will pose a legitimate challenge, he is a one trick pony and incapable of beating people who move well around the court.

  11. murray

  12. I TOTALLY agree with you! The way Rafa's playing at this point makes it very clear I think. He's managed to do everything he ever dreamed of this year! His game's really really really great right now and he deserves to be the world number one.

I think he'll rule the tennis world for a year and a half. By that time Djokovic will be the world number two, and there'll be tough competition for him! These two youngsters are the future of tennis for sure.

  13. Nadal seems entrenched @ #1 for at least the time being.  His biggest threat, Federer, seems to have lost his mojo over the past 6 months.  Maybe he's wearing down, mentally?  That being said, you DID ask who would be the NEXT #1, and, since I see no clear threat to the Nadal/Federer feud atop the rankings, I'd have to say that next summer, when grass season comes around again, Federer should win Wimbledon, and propel himself back to #1.  As a dark-horse, I'd go with Andy Murray.  He's got mad talent.

  14. nadal is too d**n inconsistent to be #1 for that long. give him a few more months, federer will be back on top

  15. Rafael nadal and maria sharapova

  16. Your probably right with Nadal but don't rule out Federer!!!

  17. i think novak djokovic
