Who will be the next to challenge Anderson Silva’s middleweight reign? – UFC Special
Anderson Silva, the current UFC middleweight champion, and his team are most probably going through the toughest time of their lives as far as the decision making is concerned. Silva is being bombarded every now and then by a number of opponents who are
just dying to collide with the Spider in an attempt to break his legendary win streak.
The reason behind Silva having such problem is quite simple. Anderson, despite being somewhat invincible is getting old with the passage of time and will in a year or two face the biggest nightmare of a belligerent that is aging.
In order to compensate this factor, Anderson not only needs bouts that can aid him in collecting a hefty pay check but also clashes that can further polish his resume and above all strengthen his win streak.
This can only be done by taking on men who are ruling the middleweight or any other division in the UFC or by colliding with names who have earned a shot at his title. No matter what Silva and his camp thinks there are not many apples left in the basket
to chew.
The first and the foremost contender for Anderson’s title, now appears to be Michael Bisping who is scheduled to a bout with Brian Stann. Therefore, one option for Silva is to take on the winner of Michael-Stann bout.
Bisping is not only dubbed as the fourth best middleweight in the world but above all has been following Silva for a pretty long time. Furthermore, it was Bisping who gave a bit tough time to Chael Sonnen in the title eliminator bout.
Although he lost the bout and Sonnen then went on to collide with Silva for the second time still Bisping did prove that he is a powerful entity, an individual who can to some extent stun Silva.
After Sonnen’s loss Bisping even commented that he can do better than the American hot shot. Therefore, a bout with Bisping will not only become hype but will also generate hefty income.
The second most important and can-be-declared high-profile bout for the Brazilian ‘Spider’ can be against Nick Diaz. Nick has decided to make a comeback and in order to do so his trainer Cesar Gracie has already coined Silva’s name.
Although Cesar has in a later detailed media interaction admitted that Nick does not want a title bout instead just a high-profile bout against a powerful belligerent still Diaz can aid Silva in securing a handsome check.
Nick is a former Strikeforce, World Extreme Cagefighting and International Fighting Championships’ welterweight champion. Furthermore, in his very first UFC bout, the El Diablo rattled the whole mixed martial art world by collecting a unanimous decision
win over B. J. Penn in a classic bout which was later on conferred the ‘fight of the night’ honour.
Diaz is currently facing a nine-month retroactive ban. The 28-year-old Nick has great potential and is above all a born natural fighter. With his success in almost all significant mixed martial art promotions, fans will die to see him take on UFC’s number
one middleweight Anderson Silva.
As a result, yet again, Silva will not only be able to defend his title and add another win over a big name in his resume but will also leave the octagon with a huge payout. Last but not the least we have a name that has been coined by the Silva camp themselves
that is Georges St. Pierre.
Ed Soares’ advice of taking on the number one welterweight in the world and the owner of a pretty long win and title defence streak hints a lot about what Silva’s ambitions are. Who will not pay for a bout between two iconic mixed martial artists who rule
their respective division amicably and in an intimidating fashion?
Well, the decision to select the next opponent lies on the shoulders of Silva’s managers but most probably it would be one of the above.
