  1. Yea, and during that hour, dairy farmers will be plugging their CO2 leaks, I am sure...  lol

  2. THANK YOU for this question... I haven't laughed so hard in a long time! :)

  3. Not me. I have way too much common sense. I think I will probably go the 5_for_fighting route and pump as much CO2 into the atmosphere as possible. Maybe I can triple my carbon footprint as well.

Edit: Nadia how much energy can you actually conserve in Pakistan? I think that between 5_for_fighting and I we pretty much will cancel out all energy savings from your entire country.

  4. I'm going too. it may not achieve much but its better then nothing.

  5. So everyone's supposed to turn the lights off at the same time? At 8p.m. in what time zone? If not at the same time....most people turn off their lights all night anyway.

It's a nice idea, but don't see it happening.

  6. I do not think I have heard of a more worthless gesture. Have fun sitting in the dark. It is very symbolic of the AGW fanatics knowledge of the issue.

  7. Will the stupid ideas never cease? No, I haven't any intention of doing anything like this.

  8. I pledge for the hour from 8 PM to 9 PM that I will turn on every electric device in my house.  I also pledge to start both of my cars and let them run with the air conditioning on for the full hour.  I also pledge to start my lawn mower and let it run for the full hour also.  I also pledge to throw a big pile of charcoal in my grill and fire that sucker up to cook my dinner.  I also pledge to turn on my gas stove and range for the full hour.  I also pledge to turn on the hot water so that my hot water heater will burn natural gas for the full hour.  I also pledge to turn my home's air conditioner down to 55 degrees so that it runs constantly for only a half hour.  I also pledge that since I will be freezing my butt off after half an hour that I will turn the natural gas heater up to 80 degrees so that it runs for the other half hour.

And I still won't come close to the carbon footprint that Algore leaves while he is flying in his private plane to his next global warming alarmist conference.

Good luck finding enough people to overcome my increased carbon footprint.  I wonder how many light bulbs would have to be turned off for 1 hour to accomplish that.

EDIT:  bhopefull, am I going to only triple my CO2 output?  I was hoping to do more than that.

  9. I'll turn my lights off at 10 pm instead and leave them off until 6pm the next day!

  10. The founder of the Weather Channel wants to sue Al Gore for fraud, hoping a legal debate will settle the global-warming debate once and for all.

John Coleman, who founded the cable network in 1982, suggests suing for fraud proponents of global warming, including Al Gore, and companies that sell carbon credits.

"Is he committing financial fraud? That is the question," Coleman said.

"Since we can't get a debate, I thought perhaps if we had a legal challenge and went into a court of law, where it was our scientists and their scientists, and all the legal proceedings with the discovery and all their documents from both sides and scientific testimony from both sides, we could finally get a good solid debate on the issue," Coleman said. "I'm confident that the advocates of 'no significant effect from carbon dioxide' would win the case.

  11. ya sure ill join, p.s you need the time clearer. what time zone are you in? that will make it a lot clearer to people. otherwise this thing will be pointless.

p.s those who think this will be no real benefit to the enviroment at all, i agree with you. but this is about getting enough people to join us, to say to the world " we will not go quietly into the night! we will not go down without a fight! either we live at peace with nature or suffer the same fate as  noah ( the one who built the ark). we will be washed away and life shall begin again." can i get an amen?

  12. In Pakistan we are already facing minmum 4 hrs load shedding so we are already contirbuting much.

  13. More energy will be consumed when the lights are turned back on, than would have been by leaving them on!

    As your question hinted.....symbolic.

I can pee in the dark anyway, so I reckon I am doing my bit. No, I won't be participating in "earth hour". Sorry.

  14. I choose to help the earth (or at least hurt it less) by recycling and biking to work every day of the week, rather than participate in feel-good pseudo-environmentalist events that render little or no benefit at all.
