You get the highest rate using your debit card in the ATM when you are there. Best of all is the Nationwide debit card as there are no charges.

Example: uk high st tourist cash rate, 1.15-1.23

              Debit card 1.26-1.27

You will get the best exchange rate by taking your sterling to europe with you and changing it when you get there.
