Who will go number two in the upcoming draft?

What if Tampa Bay screws up and Stamkos goes #2? Has anyone thought of that scenario yet?

To answer your question, I believe that Nikita Filatov will go second. With how far the league let Cherepanov slip in last years draft considering where I thought he would go, I could be wrong about another Russian prospect, but I like what little I have seen and what great things I have read about Filatov.

***NIPS makes a good point about offensive-minded defensemen. If a D man goes second I would say it would either be Karlson or Doughty IMO.

****Counting your chickens before they hatch is something we all do at times and I realize you need something/anything to look forward to.  I hope he is good and turns into a great player, that is good for the whole league. However, unlike you, I will actually wait to see him perform and excel consistently at the NHL level before I crown him the next hockey star in TB.

Given that the recent teams to win the CUP all were SO DEEP in Dmen.. I think a Dman will go second.

The Ducks and Wings have shown that in a 7 game series.... Defense will tend to beat a team loaded with endless firepower (Ottawa and Pitt)

I also believe that with the post lock-out rules we have seen that Defenseman with skills are a must. No longer can an average BIG Dman  slow up the attacking forward waiting for back-checkers to get back and help. I believe you have to have Highly Skilled Dmen if you want to win in todays NHL! Not only with D skills, but puck movement skills.

I don't know. I mean, with the way I've been eating, it's hard to tell when I'll need to use the Throne. And I don't watch any drafts.
