Who will have the best defense for the 2008 NFL season?

With Shawn Merriman and Osi Umeniyora's seasons ended, do many people still believe the Giants and Chargers will have the one and two defenses this football season? Why or why not? Who will be best and why? If possible, please discuss possible additions to the lineup and their contributions, as well as any insight as to why you feel this way. I would say "10 points for best answer," but shouldn't it go without saying? Let's get this discussion started! Please don't pick your team based on the simple fact that you are a lifelong fan of them. Let's attempt to be unbiased here! Thanks!

cowboys cuz we hav 2 many good CBs like terrence newman  pac man jones and anthony Henry plus a new addititon zack thomas

Raiders. Just watch, they were 4th last season in most stats.

And they'll have to be better this year.

i think carolina will have a killer D this year.  I think Peppers will have a comeback season in sacks and their pass rush has improved along with their secondary.  The giants will have a pretty good d but i doubt the chargers will.

I think Dallas will be solid but Minnesota looks to be one of the best in the league.  The were really impressive the other night against the Steelers (happen to see that nasty pass rush?).  SD will be alright.  Merriman is going to be a huge loss but they shouldnt be too bad off.  I feel the Giants wont have the same kind of pass rush they did a year ago and if for some insane reason Strahan comes back, I doubt the defensive numbers will be the same as they were last year.

Packers!! they got AJ Hawk, al harris charles woodson, aaron kampman, atari bigby, nick barnnet, and brady poppinga, they're defense will be amazing this year

Still the Chargers -- the backups for Merriman's position could start on virtually any other team. The Bears will deliver, since the team's offense will only be able to score consistently on a short field.

The Chargers D is so deep they still are the best defense in the league without Merriman. The secondary is without a doubt the best and one player is missing in the linebacker core.

Raiders D picked off Matt Leinart 3 times and held Arizona to only 87 yards in the 1st half. The shut down Vince Young and the Titians and  the 49ers.They will only improve as the season goes on.
