Who will not be surprised when we find out that Phelps has used drugs?

I for one will not be surprised when we find out that he has used some as yet undetected drug. It always seems to be the case when any athlete is so far ahead of the competition. It's a shame that it happens as it cheapens everybodies efforts.

I'm not saying that Phelps definately has taken drugs but I think it's very likely.

  1. Well I hear he's given up some blood for testing and for tests in the future as well so I'm thinking, hmmmmm.... he's learned his lesson from Marion Jones, so he's probably using something that does NOT show up in blood tests. May be electric shocks? Time will tell.

  2. I will not not be surprised. I think Phelps is a freak of nature, that's all.

  3. Watch Michael Phelps videos at Beijing 2008 Olympic swimming finals below

  4. Well, he was actually behind in the relay (when his teammate saved the day), and he just barely came from behind and won last night (I actually thought he lost), so I don't think he's as far ahead of the comp as it seems.

Also, if he's using, then everybody's using, because records are falling hard this year in all sports.

  5. Anyone that thinks Phelps is using any kind of steroid or performance enhancing drug is INSANE!

    1. Atheletes are tested by blood and urine for drugs.

    2. Athletes are forbidden from competing when found they are using drugs.

    3. its as simple as those two rules above, which means Phelps and all the other athletes are not using any kind of drug.

Same goes for the world championship and any other competition.

  6. Ok, I think it would be naive for one to not question (just question) that someone of Phelps' caliber might be on drugs.

In this day and age, for every drug available, there seems to be a masking agent also available.

I think we would be arrogant to accuse Phelps of taking drugs when he hasn't tested positive, but I can't see the harm in healthy scepticism.

  7. I will be pretty disappointed. It's possible. But maybe he's just really really good? I doubt he's using any sort of drug, because as an answerer said before, they put a lot of effort into drug detection in the Olympics. So if he was taking any drugs, they would've detected it by now.

Innocent till proven guilty. GOOO Phelps!

  8. I know The Reason Why everyone is doing BETTER this is olympics!!!

Because They Can Listen to Their IPODS!

  9. I really shouldn' t be surprised at this question or at some of the responses (come on - a "freak of nature", "flipper implants").  Whenever someone works hard and strives to achieve their goals, and do so, the detractors come out of the woodwork.  By your reasoning, the only way to prove that you aren't doping is to lose.

Mark Phelps is a fine young man, a tremendous athlete, and deserves all of the accolades that he is receiving and more.

    Go USA!!!!!

  10. I don't think he has been taking drugs, but I suppose it's possible. But for a guy who has been competing internationally with the rest of the worlds top athletes since his early teens, I think he's another Tara Lipinski. He's had experience competing internationally for over ten years so I'm not surprised he's been doing so well. It would be a real shame though if his medals were stripped from him.

  11. Me. Unless the guy is Ubermensch, which I really really doubt.

Taking all golds and breaking world records is really suspicous.

Remember Marion Jones and other similar cases. It is the problem with Olympics in general. It became human flesh race, and the question is what are the limits of human body. And I am talking about real humans, not steroid machines.

Of course, nobody can't accuse Phelps without evidences, and for now he is champion, so time will show.

  12. I will be supirsed, becuase michael has never done that before. He even is willing to take MORE doping tests to prove it. Have people not heard that michael phelps has a super strong mental toughness, so that gives him an advantage. He is really strong which means it is easy for him to go fast. I dont thiink its likeley

  13. IDK, maybe he's just good? They put a lot of effort into drug detection at important events like the Olympics...

  14. well, if you're going to say that Phelps is using drugs then you will have to say that all the other athletes are using...he can't be the only one in all the athletes...no matter what country.  And until whoever tests negative lets just say....GO  USA....:)

  15. just because someone works hard and does well, really well doesn't mean they take drugs. he has been AMAZING since he was just a kid, do you really think he has been taking drugs since he was 7 and still hasn't been caught? that stupid. just accept the fact that he is the greatest athlete the world has ever known, and he's clean.

  16. I hope he wasnt doping, but i think his genetics are a bit too convenient, maybe hes like yao ming and is a part of genetic experiments to create the perfect athletes ... Who's his daddy ?

  17. I would be surprised, and I really hope he hasn''t taken anything.  He just has a perfect swimmer's body, just like the Chinese gymnasts have perfect gymnast frames.  Did you see his feet?  They are a freak of nature, if there's anything he did maybe he got some type of flipper implants- lol!  Also, the race last night was so close Cavic must be taking something too, right?

Edit-  Comment below me, did you notice that I stated I would be surprised if they found he was using drugs (the question is who will NOT be surprised when we find out he's using).   Also, I was being sarcastic with the flipper implant comment, hence the lol.  As for MICHAEL Phelps feet they are very large, and proves the point that he has great attributes for the perfect swimmer's body.  In my opinion, they are a quite big at a size 14 but luckily they are perfect for swimming in addition to his larger hands/long fingers, his very long and slim body that helps with his streamline.  Combine his God given perfect swimmer body with amount of training the man goes through, and it's obvious he doesn't need drugs!

  18. As much as I hope he's winning legitimately, I also would not be surprised if he's busted for drugs or some other prohibited performance enhancing substance.  So many past athletes who were leaps and bounds ahead of their competition like Phelps were busted, it's something that has to be considered.  But I really, really hope he's clean so he and the Olympic viewers can just enjoy his accomplishments.

  19. He can't have taken drug b/c by the olympic rules every olympic athlete has to submit to random testing every day. (not too random but that's what they call it...)
