  1. What is all this PAY,there was a problem, things happen,so why is it always about someone having to pay?

  2. You wont get any from Travel Insurance policies. I belive its called "force majure".

And you wont get any from the Railways "events beyond the railways control".

Now of course thats what the rules say.

In reality I belive the insurance company of the yard which had the fire/gas cylinders is going to get a very very hefty bill from good old Network Rail (were talking tens of millions here), Eurostar will also want its share.

Customers will get refunds by original method of payment in the interests of good customer service, or can rebook to another Eurostar Service within the next 2 months.

  3. Eurostar will allow you to rebook for travel within 2 months or have a refund.

Compensation might be possible if you have travel insurance or if you booked a package holiday with an ATOL bonded travel agent. What I mean is, if you have this ATOL bond then you can claim for missing the hotel / excursions as well.

All travel insurance varies but if it is comprehensive cover then there will be a section on "cancellation  or curtailment" where you could make a claim but expect to pay an excess.

In some circumstances the insurance companies will try and recover damages if someone can be found responsible for the closure.

  4. Try Brussels, they wanted the system and it was brought in against the wishes of the people of South East England to enable Illegal Immigrants that the French do not want to easily enter the country.

  5. Contact Eurostar, they should put you right!

  6. What makes you think there'll be any compensation? I'll bet if you read the fine print in their conditions of service you'll find they're not liable for matters beyond their reasonable control.
