Who will win: A Kung-fu Martial Artist (Chinese 100s year tradition) or a U.S. Army Soldier?

Without guns. Hand to hand.

A Soldier who has received "enough" training to be in war. A Kung-Fu practitioner who takes it further.

Although Soliders have h2h combat they spend lots of their time training to use guns, follow commands, survive etc. However a kung fu martial artist does strictly h2h combat, but it really depends on the kung fu guys experience and style. Kung fu like many martial arts takes years of experience to actually use but in the army they dont have years to train so they teach simple but highly effective moves. So I'm not sure  what "takes it further" means but a kung fu practitoner for like 1 or 2 years is gonna lose but a dedicted master would would win hands down

Kung fu artist would win very quickly.

That's why soldiers carry guns..

Most soldiers only receive basic training in hand to hand combat unless they want to take it further.

your average kung fu guy has more skill but your average soldier has more conditioning.

Well does the soldier have any martial arts experience?If not then probably the kung fu dude.Now my nephew is a Captain in the Marine Corps,and his job is training Marines,and Seals hand to hand combat.He is a 6th degree black belt in Shorei-Ryu,and studied Krav Maga for many yrs.in Israel.He would smash that kunf fu dude.

If we're assuming the army soldier has the standard amount of hand to hand combat training the army teaches, and does not have further training in anything else, I would say the kung-fu practitioner would be heavily favored. It's hard to say who will win any fight though, one good (or lucky) punch can end a fight regardless of the skill of the combatants.

Hm, why do people always tend to ask the "who would win" questions? It's slightly frustrating, because the case varies from case to case.

Well, considering the kung fu martial artist is authentic and knows his/her art well, I would guess that the kung fu practitioner would win. Martial arts, if done properly, can dodge bullets, take out guns with a proper kick, and substitute as a weapon.

This question is more of an opinionated one, so it's more difficult to get the "Correct" answer to.

As the others say, it depends on the training. There are plenty of former (and current) military personnel in MMA who, I suspect, would beat a kung fu martial artist. Consider Brian Stann, for instance.

seriously u wanna knoww? I'd have to say the soldier also. have u ever heard of GraciJujitsusu?? the type of martial arts that all soldiers are taught from basic is based off of Gracie Jujitsu? and the Gracies when they formed their art they went around the world and studied Muy Thai, Brazilian Jujitsu, Kempo, Savate, Boxing, Wrestling, and even Tae Kwon Doe. thats a big mix and traing to reach the peak of army combatives takes well @ least 8-9 yrs. but to become a master in Kung Fu it depends on the type of Kung Fu but Golden Fist being the most common around well 15-20 yrs to become a complete master.  but hey u never knw until it happens.

Well, it depends, what kind of training does the soldier have? What if the soldier was a Kung Fu master himself?

There are actually some great Martial Artist who served in the Military.

All other things equal (that is, unarmed, the army soldier having solely combatives and the martial artist being an expert in, say, Wing Chun for instance), I would go with the martial artist in terms of who has the better chance. Still too many variables to say with any certainty that one will always win. In the end, everyone eventually loses.

Combatives training isn't specialized and isn't a focus. Even MCMAP instructors have said that the hand to hand training is insufficient when faced with a skilled fighter. Most military training involves putting distance between yourself and the enemy whenever possible (that's why so much effort is put into guns).

if its no guns or weapons, just using ur body i would go with the Kung-fu artiste, over the US solider, however u didnt say how long, or what style , or the intensity of his training, of the Kung-fu artiste same with the Soldier, who could be a black belt in bjj, and karate or something, but the average solider vs. a solid kung fu fighter i have the kung fu fighter winning,

i'd say the u.s. army soldier would win because they go through intense training and same with the kung fu person. i just think people who go to war are very good at fighting with guns and unarmed
