The Tito Ortiz- Lyoto Machida fight? This really is a no brainer, but I want to see how many ignorant answers I can get!! In fact, I'm gonna go ahead and give 10 points to the most ignorant answer I get. So the person who can convince me, whole heartedly, that they REALLY believe Tito Ortiz will win this fight will get the points. Come on people, convince me of the impossible!!

  1. I think its a dud fight personally.  Tito seems that he is only fighting because he doesn't feel like Retiring and Machida is actually one of the few people left who thinks beating Tito will launch his popularity.  Did Rashad Evans get any closer to a title shot after fighting Tito..No?  Oh well, good like Machida.  On one hand Machida is fairly good, hasn't beat anyone worth mentioning but a fairly good fighter none the less.  On the other hand, Tito has beat fighters way better then Machida.  In fact if he beats Machida, 2 years from now no one will even mention him beating machida as a highlight to his career.  Then again like I said, Tito should probably retire soon befor he ends up losing to somebody who isn't all that great (Like Machida)

Iggnorant answer for 10 points?  Oh man Tito is teh rocks, he beat up Machida to rocksors...he strnger and faster.  He = the best.  Tito beat up everyone forever.  Hows that?

  2. tito

  3. Nobody think that Matt Serra would clip GSP and ko'ed him either.

Don't get me wrong, Lyoto is a great tactical fighter that has defeated some top fighters before, but Ortiz is not exactly a small fish either.

I actually also think that Ortiz is stronger than Lyoto when it comes to a clinch.

While Lyoto might have higher chance to win, it's stupidity to think that it's a sure win.

  4. I think that Machida is a very underated fighter and has beaten some big names in MMA, but I think because Tito has such huge issues with Dana White and because this is officially his last UFC fight, i think that he'll beat Machida either by decision

or by ground stoppage, just because he wants to send a message to the UFC and other promotions that he is a big free agent after the fight.

  5. Personally I think Machida will win. HOWEVER if Tito can fake a right hook and shoot for a takedown he can sit in the half guard and continue to do what he does best. Tito will attack the head and body of Machida effectively taking out his legs, then when they stand Machidas kicks will be ineffective. I'm sure Tito knows Machida wants to keep this standing so he will have worked hard on his boxing. Using his boxing skills to block the picky punches of Machida.

*EDIT* Machida was the first person to ever beat Rich Franklin who is rgaurded as most as the clear #2 fighter in the Middleweight division. I'd say that is name woth mention.

  6. Sherk vs Penn

    - Penn - Strikes and Grappling dominator

    Silva vs Jardine

Jardine - leg kicks to fatigue Silva, then KO with well time punches.

    Ortiz vs Machida

    Machida in a battle.

  7. well i do think based on Machida's last performance that tito will take him down, lay on him, and win by TKO. Tito will get him down, and why you have to call people ignorant, when  everyone has a choice of opinion, That's one thing that was different with PRIDE, the Japanese  gave all fighters of the sport respect!

  8. I'm sorry but I have to respond to the guy who said Lyoto Machida hasn't beaten anyone worth mentioning. Since when is Rich Franklin, Rameau Sokoudjou, BJ Penn, and Stephan Bonnar not worth mentioning.

*Franklin's only defeats have come at the hands of Anderson Silva (UFC MW Champ & Absolute Animal) and Lyoto Machida. Franklin has also been the UFC MW Champ before and he is still demolishing everyone not named Anderson Silva.

*Sokoudjou has beaten the likes of Ricardo Arona and Antonio Rogerio Nogueira. He is also a fast rising prospect in the UFC

*BJ Penn is one of the all time great MMA fighters. He is currently the LW Champ. BJ Penn has beaten Matt Hughes, Matt Serra, Jens Pulver, Joe Stevenson, Duane Ludwig, Din Thomas, and Takanori Gomi.

*Bonnar was the runner-up in the Ultimate Figher and was involved in that war with Forrest Griffin. He has also beaten the likes of Keith Jardine and James Irvin.

As for the ignorant answer, Tito Ortiz is an MMA GOD!!!! He is a cardio machine and is training for this fight harder than any other before. He wants to make a statement to the UFC, Dana White, and possible future suitors, that he is back to his previous form. He is going to take Lyoto Machida down at will and Ground & Pound Machida until he beats him senseless. As for standup, Ortiz definitely has the advantage. Tito has powder kegs for hands and has a strong chance of putting Machida on his rear several times. All Machida can do is stand back and take whats coming to him.  Besides, if all else fails, Ortiz can ask Machida to take a fall in exchange for the right to do a movie with Jenna.

  9. Ok, so to ibrought..., Rashad didn't beat Tito.  In fact, he would have lost if Tito didn't hold the cage for a couple seconds and have points deducted.  That's why "beating" Tito didn't do much for his career.  Now, I don't think Tito WILL win, but it IS possible.  He's a tough wrestler, he's stronger than Machida and he's got amazing cardio.  If he can get on top, control Lyoto, wear him down and then GnP him, it's Tito's fight.  On standup, it's no contest.  Machida has the advantage, but I don't know much about his ground game.  I do know that Tito could control him there.  It really depends on how seriously he trains for this fight and who decides the pace.  Tito also has more octagon experience and will take to the pressure of being on one of the bigger cards of the night better than Machida probably will.

With all that said, I do think Machida is the favorite, but don't count a veteran with wins over guys like Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei out of this fight.

  10. I know its a very bold prediction... but I think this is going to be Lyoto's defining moment. I think he is going to finish Tito.

Either way its going to be an interesting fight.

  11. are you kidding Lyoto Machida is going to get all kinds of ****** up Ortiz is going to kick his *** man..yeah lyoto has had a copple of lucky kos with his kicks but hes a bum tito is a MACHINE! your the kinda guy who thinks kimbo has a chance in the ufc against a fit fighter right?
