Who will win gold in soccer in the olympics?

Also who will win the gold in Basketball.

I think Mexico will win in soccer and USA will win gold in basketball.

But USAs basketball team played badly today they barely beat an Australia team burdened with injuries.

A. Mexico didn't qualify to play soccer.

B. Argentina is defending champion in both sports.

C. Argentina beat the US in the semifinals in Athens 2004...meaning your dream team IS stoppable, and by non other than the team that "sucks,"  Argentina.

Believe it or not I think the U.S. could win in both sports. Basketball is obviuos as their team is stacked with young talent finally everywhere on the court. Now, I'm not sayin they're a certain winner, as many teams can shoot from range consistently, but I think this years U.S. team can and will put in a much better effort defensively then they have in recent past tournaments. You can see this in kobe bryant, as soon as the opposing guard crossing half-court, kobe has been right there to press him. These small things can take their toll during games and if the U.S. doesn't dominate an opponet early on, then they will pull away late due to defensive improvements and physical players in the paint(LeBron, Kobe, Wade, Howard, Bosh). With the Soccer team. I think that the U.S. squad's is as close to their actual senior national team as any other country in the olympics. There are as many stars if not more of this team than otheres. We know Freddy Adu of course, but there's also Jozy Altidore(newly signed to 3rd place Villareal after dominating in MLS), Brian McBride(finished in spectacular form with fulham this season), Brad Guzan(newly signed to Aston Villa),Michael Parkhurst(MLS defensinve mvp), Muarice Edu(MLS rookie of the year), Michael Bradley and Benny Feilhaber(national team regulars).  Add to that the fact that at close to half of the team is in midseason playing form in the MLS which means they are more game ready. Also i think three other have been in competiontions the senior team before such as Danny Szetela, who played for U.S. in the last Gold Cup. I believe this team could make serious noise and possibly win gold as i think they can be a much more coehisive unit with truly solid players all over the field and in gold and if you think they need a playmaker here and there, that's the type of thing that Adu, Mcbride, and Altidore bring to the game. So those are my guesses, U.S. for gold in both basketball and soccer

As far as basketball goes, it will be the upset of the century if this current USA squad doesn't win the gold....

guys, for basketball USA is king. with guys like kobi, wade and labron james anything is possible.

African youth teams are very good in competing under age soccer.

Nigeria  won it in atlanta, cameroon also won it in sydney.most of the players who play graduated from the under17 teams.Argentina is hot but Nigeria will pick the gold, ARGENTINA is the greatest threat.
