  1. Joe on points or possibly KO. A peak Roy against  a peak  Joe would be a different fight though, and Roy win this by KO or points. Roy is one of the best ever, and I hate seeing him getting knocked out. His best days are over.

  2. calzage will win no doubts..even in jones hey day!!..at anytime this fight would be a bore..dont wait up you will see the worst of both

  3. calzaghe will outpoint jones jr.

  4. Calzaghe will beat him into submission.

  5. i love joe calzaghe. so i think he would edge him out. but if roy was in his prime, its hard for me to picture joe beating roy. roy is one of the most talented boxers of all time

  6. The Glove Slapper calzaghe should beat this old man and up his "defeating nobody or has beens" record,

In his day Jones was untouchable and calzaghe would never been allowed to go near him

  7. i believe jones has way more ring smart then calzaghe... i also believe he still has the punching power and the speed over calzaghe... i know he doesnt have the endurance and stamina, but stilllll , this is roy jones jr... he wins... no doubt...

  8. in his prime, Jones. If they fight tomorrow, Calzaghe.

  9. Don't think I am going too far out on a limb here to say Jones knocks out Calzaghe

  10. There's a good possibility that if it goes the distance they'll make it a draw so as not to tarnish either boxers reputation and there is every chance it will go to the scorecards

  11. Im gonna have a little faith and say Jones Jr knocks him out. Calzaghe had an excellent style that at anytime would be hard for Hopkins to deal with, especially an old Hopkins. But Hopkins even though he is not a big puncher knocked Joe down.

Jones has the style to beat Calzaghe even at his age and this point in his career. But Jones would have to be on that night and in great shape, If Jones could muster up 50% of what he used to be that's all it would take to beat Calzaghe. But Jones has not been the same since coming back down to light heavyweight.

They say every great champion has one great fight left in him, I just have a feeling that this is Roy's great fight.

Even at this stage Jones is a little faster then Joe, moves better then Joe and hits harder then Joe. I wonder about Jone's commitment though. I still think Jones can outbox Calzaghe and win a decision, and I think if the opportunity presents itself Jones can knock him out.

A prime Jones puts Calzage away within 5 rounds.

  12. I think this is going to be Joe's most difficult fight to date and whilst I am a huge fan of his I think he will struggle as this will be the first person I can remember him fighting that is supremely talented, posesses great boxing technique and handspeed. Styles make fights and Roy Jones Junior was the Michael Jordan/Roger Federer of boxing in the mid late nineties. You also have to remember he has fought at higher weights for a longer time period than Calzaghe.

Whilst he has lost some of his power he still has great speed and has been in with more high calibre opponents than Calzaghe. See the Youtube video mentioned below which shows some of the moves this guy is capable of...awesome.

In his January win over Trinidad he showed he still hs some great handspeed and more importantly he looked hungry which was missing in his back to back defeats against Tarver and Johnson.

I think if Roy can raise his game and be psyched for this one he can pull of a close points decision through having the greater power and slightly quicker handspeed. As one of the contributors here said - every fighter has one fight left in them and this could be Roy's.

As a huge Calzaghe fan I will be very happy to be proved wrong! I know for one thing I will be nervous watching this one.

  13. In my opinion Roy Jones Jr. is the best boxer who has ever lived. I know rOY GOT KNOCKED OUT BUT THAT IS BOXING ALI LOST TOO.

  14. good question....it all depends on the nite jones is a very gifted fighter and even though he is getting on abit, is still worldclass...calzaghe is also a true champion remaining unbeaten for 10yrs...if joe can stay injury free then i will say he will come out on top....but it will be a tough fight for him

  15. Calzaghe. They are both great fighters but Calzaghe has more to lose i.e his unbeaten record. That should make him more hungry than Jones. Which will probably be the key.

  16. Calzaghe, on points.
