i dont think that silva has ever faced a powerful puncher like irvin. rich franklin was a striker but a technical one not an one punch knockout artist.

If irvin lands it clear i think he puts silva to sleep.

Plus , i think that irvin is more natural in this weight class and he can gain more weight while retaining speed and strenght , silva in the other hand is gonna have to fight with weight added that can affect your performance.

Silva has consistently dominated the middleweight class, and I think a lot of it has to do with his frame and athletic ability at that weight. Anderson was pretty tall in the middleweight division at 6'2", the majority of guys he was punishing were a bit shorter than him, allowing him to utilize his world class muay thai. James Irvin will be considerably bigger than anyone Silva has ever fought, decreasing his ability to use height and size to dominate from the clinch. Silva will likely also loose a bit of his notorious quickness and explosiveness towing around 20 more pounds. The spider's best shot is on the ground utilizing his BJJ, but I don't think Irvin is going to go there willingly.

Expect to see Irvin try to use his weight and experience in the light heavyweight class to wear down on Silva who may need some getting used to the added weight as well as fighting bigger people. I can't wait to see what Silva can do at 205, but my gut is telling me Irvin is gonna bully Silva around standing up and get the TKO sometime after the first round, or eventually win the decision.  Should be a great fight, get ready, my chips are on Irvin for sure.

I think Irvin will be able to pull off the upset.. Mostly because I don't think Silva can fight at 205 lbs.. Irvin is going to knock him out back to 185 lbs.  3rd round Silva goes down
